According to Ms. Pham Phuong Chi, Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the Central region, heavy rain tends to last longer than in the North and expand further south.
On September 18, the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 20 - 50mm, locally very heavy rain over 80mm.
From the night of September 18th, heavy rain in Thanh Hoa tends to gradually decrease, but Nghe An is likely to continue to have heavy rain and will expand the heavy rain area to Hue city. Rainfall in the night of September 18th - 19th in this area may be common at the threshold of 30 - 60mm, locally over 100mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 80mm within 3 hours" - Ms. Chi said.

In addition to Ha Tinh to Hue, on the night of September 19 and the day of September 20, the Southern region and Lam Dong province will have moderate rain and thunderstorms with rainfall of 20 - 40mm, locally heavy rain over 80mm.

Regarding the hydrological situation, floods downstream of the Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh), Buoi River (Thanh Hoa) have peaked and are receding slowly. The flood peak on the Hoang Long River at Ben De station is 4.93m (3 am on September 18), about 0.93m above alarm level 3; on the Buoi River at Kim Tan station is 13.84m (2 am on September 18), about 1.84m above alarm level 3.
Floods on the Day River (Ninh Binh) continue to rise slowly and are above alarm level 3. Lower-lying floods on the Ma River (Thanh Hoa), Boi River (Phu Tho) are receding and above alarm level 1; upper-lying floods on the Ca River (Nghe An) are fluctuating at alarm level 1 and above alarm level 1.
In the next 24 hours, downstream floods of the Hoang Long River and Buoi River will continue to recede, the Day River will change slowly and be above alarm level 3. Downstream floods of the Ma River will recede to alarm level 1, and upstream of the Ca River will continue to fluctuate at alarm level 1 and above alarm level 1.
