On the morning of December 19, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Head of the Vietnam Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games chaired a press conference at the Games to update the competition situation as well as evaluate the overall journey of the delegation.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh expressed his gratitude to the news agencies and press for accompanying him closely, promptly reflecting the efforts and achievements of Vietnamese sports at the 33rd SEA Games.

According to the Head of the delegation, before the departure day, the Vietnam Sports Delegation had identified 3 key goals including: maintaining its position in the leading group in the region; making progress in key sports - especially the Olympic group; building the image of a civilized and professional sports delegation.
Assessing up to now, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh affirmed: " Basically, the Vietnam Sports Delegation has done exactly as promised and in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction before leaving".
Accordingly, the group won 74 gold medals, bringing the number to 78 gold medals if including performance events. For sports that are still competed in such as weightlifting, fencing, shooting, boxing, cloud badminton, long-distance swimming and sports, the target of about 90 gold medals is still completely feasible.

In football, Vietnamese sports leave a special mark when all 3 teams participate in the finals. The two gold medals of the Vietnam U22 women's and U22 women's futsal teams are considered outstanding achievements, in which the achievement of U22 Vietnam shows the methodical preparation and depth of the force.
Mr. Minh believes that if there are no controversial situations, women's football can completely close the Congress with more complete results.
Not only completing the achievement target, Vietnamese sports also showed a positive change in the Olympic group when these sports contributed about 70% of the gold medals. In addition, many young faces at just 16.17 years old have already shined, promising a long-term future for the ASIAD and Olympic arenas.

Evaluating the image and playing style, Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh emphasized that the Vietnamese athletes have shown a fair-play spirit, civilized behavior, respect for opponents and referees, thereby spreading a positive image of Vietnamese sports and people.
Although there are still some sports that have not met the targets such as golf, judo or cycling, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh believes that the 33rd SEA Games is an important stepping stone for Vietnamese sports to continue to improve and reach greater goals in the future.
