According to information announced by Chairman Pham Huong Son, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai will change its name to Dong Nai City Football Club from the new season. The dossier on the name change has been sent to the Vietnam Football Federation for approval.
Based on the club's proposal, we have asked for opinions from city departments to rename Truong Tuoi Dong Nai club to Dong Nai City Football Club from this season. We have submitted the dossier to the Vietnam Football Federation for early approval," Mr. Pham Huong Son said.
The name change took place right before the first season the Dong Nai team participated in the V.League. Last season, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai won the National First Division championship 2025-2026, thereby winning the right to play in the highest playground of Vietnamese football.
After promotion, the team also had many additions to the force. Cong Phuong is one of the most notable players in the Dong Nai squad. The striker born in 1995 continues to accompany experienced players such as Xuan Truong, Tan Sinh and Sam Ngoc Duc.
In addition, the team recruited Bui Tien Dung, Phan Van Hieu, Nguyen Van Duc, goalkeeper Pham Van Phong and foreign players Andrija Majdevac, Filip Jovic, Milos Vulic and Andrei Ivan.
Coach Nguyen Viet Thang said that the team will focus on each match in the first season in the V.League, instead of focusing heavily on ranking goals.
We will try to promote what we have done in the 2025-2026 season and continue to build the team into a united team, trying every match to achieve the best results in our first time in the V.League," coach Nguyen Viet Thang shared.
If approved by the Vietnam Football Federation, Dong Nai City Club will enter the 2026-2027 season with a new name, with the goal of making a mark in their first appearance in the highest league of Vietnamese football.
