Da Nang Club has sent an official dispatch to the Disciplinary Board and the Referees of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to request a reduction in the penalty for coach Le Duc Tuan after the direct red card that referee Nguyen Viet Duan withdrew in the 81st minute of the match against The Cong Viettel in round 13 of V.League 2024-2025 on February 14.
The Han River team believes that this red card decision is too heavy, because before that, the main referee had ignored some foul-pcked disputes of the away team's players, especially the pull-ups of The Cong Viettel player.
The match between Da Nang and The Cong Viettel was quite tense; in the last 15 minutes, the decisions of referee Nguyen Viet Duan caused a lot of controversy.
Among them, the referee's ignorance of Khuat Van Khang's foul on Da Nang midfielder Emerson in a counter-attack situation made the home team unhappy. It was this lack of recognition of his mistake that led to Emerson reacting and receiving a yellow card.
With his act of protecting his student, coach Le Duc Tuan reacted to the fourth referee Le Duc Thuan. According to Da Nang club, it was just a temporary reaction in a tense match, and there were no insulting words to the referees.
However, after discussing with the fourth referee, the main referee Nguyen Viet Duan decided to show a direct red card, removing coach Le Duc Tuan from his authority without any previous warnings or yellow cards.
In this document, Da Nang club emphasized that the actions of coach Le Duc Tuan were only emotional, not insulting. After the match, coach Le Duc Tuan had a professional attitude when coming to shake hands with the referee and the organizing committee, showing respect for the referees and the organization.
Da Nang Club requested the VFF Disciplinary Board to consider and make a fair decision, reducing the disciplinary level for coach Le Duc Tuan from a direct red card to a yellow card, to ensure the strictness of the tournament and protect the rights of the team.
