The Vietnamese Sports Delegation is completing preparations to participate in ASIAD 20 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, taking place from September 19 to October 4. Before departure, the expected bonus level for medal-winning athletes is also revealed.
According to Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet - Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, each gold medal is expected to be awarded a hot bonus of 100 million VND, a silver medal is 50 million VND and a bronze medal is from 20 - 30 million VND.
This is the initial expected bonus level, which may be higher depending on socialized resources. In addition, according to Decree 349 of the Government, Vietnamese athletes who win gold, silver and bronze medals at ASIAD will be awarded 280 million VND, 170 million VND and 110 million VND respectively; break records and receive a bonus of 110 million VND.
At this Games, Vietnamese sports set a target of winning from 4 to 6 gold medals, higher than the achievement of 3 gold medals previously achieved at ASIAD 19.
Shooting, sepak takraw and karate are expected to continue to defend achievements at the previous Games. In addition, athletics, rowing, canoeing, gymnastics and e-sports are also considered sports with the ability to compete for medals if athletes maintain good form.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to ASIAD 20 - said: "The target of 4 or more gold medals at this Games is built based on the actual force, completely not subjectively imposed.
Frankly speaking, we do not see this target as a mere achievement pressure, but see it as a measure of progress and effort to overcome our own limits.
