On the evening of July 25, at Ha Tinh Sports Gymnasium, the Pencak Silat World Federation (PERSILAT), the Vietnam Department of Sports and Physical Training and the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province jointly organized the opening ceremony of the 9th Pencak Silat Asian Championship in 2025.
The 9th Pencak Silat Asian Championship in 2025 will be held on a continental scale, taking place from July 24 to 31 at the Ha Tinh Provincial Sports Center, attracting nearly 400 athletes and coaches from 10 countries in Asia including: Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The teams will compete in 32 events corresponding to 32 sets of medals, divided into two groups: the competition and the performance.
The competition group includes 24 events corresponding to 24 weight categories, including 13 men's weight categories and 11 women's weight categories.
The performance rights section has 8 contents including: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, men's teamwork, women's teamwork, men's creativity, women's creativity.

In his opening speech, Mr. Duong Tat Thang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament sent his thanks to the Pencak Silat World Federation, Pencak Silat Asian Federation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Physical Training Department, Pencak Silat Vietnam Federation... for their trust in choosing Ha Tinh as the venue for the Pencak Silat Asian tournament in 2025.
The tournament is not only a place for competition but also an opportunity to enhance understanding, connect countries, spread the value of peace and friendship. Ha Tinh province is committed to creating the best conditions for facilities, security, healthcare, accommodation and a friendly environment for sports delegations and tourists to have memorable experiences, Mr. Thang emphasized.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Teddy Suratmadji - General Secretary of the Pencak Silat World Federation requested the athletes to compete with the highest sportsmanship spirit; the team of referees and judges leading the tournament to comply with the competition rules, score fairly and accurately to ensure the tournament is a great success.
