Currently, the VietinBank women's volleyball team is focusing on preparing for the second phase of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship (November 7 - November 17) with high determination. The Banking team is trying to find opportunities to improve their scores in the upcoming matches.
According to head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, setter Nguyen Thu Hoai will be getting married this coming November. Therefore, she is currently practicing for phase 2 while preparing with her family for the big day.
To find a backup plan for Thu Hoai, VietinBank has added a setter by borrowing Van Ha from Kinh Bac Bac Ninh. The advantage of the female athlete born in 2005 is that she was coached by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet when she participated in the VTV9 Binh Dien tournament in the U20 Vietnam team.
"Right after the end of the A-class tournament, Van Ha went to practice with the team and will definitely compete with Vietinbank in the second phase of the national championship. I think Van Ha will play a 50/50 role with Thu Hoai to support the team and will not rule out being a key factor," Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet affirmed.
2024 is a busy and unforgettable year for Van Ha when participating in a series of tournaments, from VTV9 Cup - Binh Dien, U20 Asian Championship, A-class tournament and now phase 2 of the national championship.
Nguyen Van Ha was born in 2005, from Bac Ninh. She is 1m72 tall and has a jumping ability of 2m83. In the position of setter, Van Ha is considered a "rising star" of Vietnamese women's volleyball. This female player was the captain of the U20 Vietnam team participating in the VTV9 - Binh Dien Cup 2024 and was a key factor, contributing to helping this young team win the right to participate in the 2025 U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup.
When playing on the field, Van Ha always shows confidence and boldness in passing or dropping the ball. In addition, the 19-year-old player also supports his teammates in covering the net, defending and encouraging the team spirit during the match.
It is the dedicated and passionate playing style on the field that has helped Van Ha receive much love from fans as well as the trust and opportunity given by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet.
Before the second phase, VietinBank's foreign player Katarina Pilepic suddenly got injured. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and the VietinBank team immediately started looking for a replacement player. Most likely, hitter Bogdana Anisova will return to Vietnam. Last year, Anisova played for VietinBank and helped the club finish 5th in the national volleyball championship.
This is not the first time Van Ha setter has played with a foreign player. However, with the highly competitive and fierce nature of the national championship, the young setter needs to practice hard, get used to the playing style of the VietinBank team, and coordinate smoothly with the foreign player to be ready to be sent onto the field to support her senior Thu Hoai in difficult times in the upcoming phase 2.
