The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Teqball Championship will take place continuously from June 23 to 28, attracting the participation of more than 100 athletes from 12 units in the city. The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City has assigned Hoa Lu Sports Center to preside over the organization, with the support of District 6 Cultural and Sports Center and related units.
Athletes compete in 7 events, through the tournament, the organizing committee will select the core force to form a team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand at the end of 2025. Teqball is one of the new sports that will be included in the competition program at the Southeast Asian Games.
At the end of the exciting matches, the organizing committee awarded the overall team title to District 5 with 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals. District 7 delegation ranked second with 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals. District 1 unit ranked third overall with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.
Teqball is a new sport introduced to Vietnam, combining football, cloud football and table tennis, played on a typical curved table. At the end of the tournament, a leader of the Teqball department in Ho Chi Minh City said: "This year's tournament was exciting, quality and had the participation of many units in Ho Chi Minh City. That shows the vitality and great spread of this sport, even though it was only introduced to the locality not long ago.
He also said that after this year's tournament, the locality will establish a Teqball team of 10 athletes, including 5 men's and 5 women's, along with 3 coaches to send to Hungary for training.
The team is expected to train for more than 20 days and will be actively supported by international experts in terms of expertise. This will be the core force of the Vietnam Teqball team preparing for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City organized the 2024 Teqball World Championship from December 4-8, 2024, attracting 221 athletes from 95 countries and territories around the world to participate, with a total of 301 matches.
According to statistics from the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), the world tournament in Ho Chi Minh City will be widely broadcast in more than 70 countries and territories around the world, with more than 338 newspapers, TV channels, and news sites from abroad reporting on the event...
With great potential for the development of Teqball, including the possibility of the sport being included in the Olympic competition program, since mid-2024, the Ho Chi Minh City sports industry has had a survey trip to learn from Hungary and Spain, where the Teqball movement has developed the most in the world.
Teqball was only born in 2014 but is considered the sport with the fastest development rate in the world, present in more than 140 countries and territories, recognized by many Olympic Committees of continents.
