In the afternoon of July 10, on the field with grass affected by heavy rain, Hanoi I and Thai Nguyen T&T had many difficulties in deploying their playing style. However, coach Van Thi Thanh's team still entered the game proactively and created significant pressure in the first 15 minutes.
However, Hanoi I was the team to open the score in the 31st minute. From Ngan Thi Van Su's long pass, the ball suddenly stopped in a puddle in the penalty area, creating conditions for Le Thi Trang to rush down and finish into Thai Nguyen T&T's net.
Conceding a goal, Thai Nguyen T&T quickly pushed up the squad and only took 4 minutes to bring the match back to balance. In the 35th minute, Ngoc Minh Chuyen took advantage of the unclear clearance of the Hanoi I defense, scoring to seal the score 1-1.
In the second half, Hanoi I controlled the game better and created many dangerous opportunities. Unfortunately, the strikers of the Capital team could not take advantage of it successfully. The clearest opportunity belonged to Bien Thi Hang with a long-range shot that hit the crossbar in the 71st minute. Meanwhile, Thai Nguyen T&T also had some notable counter-attacks but could not score more goals.
In the remaining match, Than Khoang San Vietnam faced many difficulties against TPHCM II. The two teams entered the break without any goals being scored.
Right at the beginning of the second half, Thanh Thuy headed in to open the score for Than Khoang San Vietnam after a corner kick in the 46th minute. However, just 4 minutes later, Diep Xuan Thanh skillfully handled it in the penalty area before finishing to equalize 1-1 for TPHCM II.
In the remaining minutes, Than Khoang San Vietnam continuously put pressure. The turning point came in the 86th minute when the referee, after exchanging with his assistant, decided to award the Coal Region team a penalty for a handball by a player of TPHCM II in the penalty area. From the 11m spot, Nhat Lan successfully converted, sealing a 2-1 victory for Than Khoang San Vietnam.
After round 5, Ho Chi Minh City I continues to lead the rankings with 12 points after 4 matches. Hanoi I is second with 10 points, while Thai Nguyen T&T is third with 8 points. The first victory helps Than Khoang San Vietnam have 3 points and temporarily rise to fifth place in the rankings.
