After Hanoi FC's dramatic 3-2 victory over Becamex HCMC in round 8 of V.League 2025-2026 on the evening of October 25, coach Harry Kewell shared frankly about the "water war" match at Binh Duong Stadium.
The Australian coach said he did not expect the team to win in such a way, but was satisfied with his players' adaptive spirit.
"I didn't expect to win like this. This is the first win. We can't play the way we used to, but the players have adapted just enough to get 3 points," said coach Kewell.

What he cares about most is not the result, but the safety of the players when the weather seriously affects the quality of the match.
I have always been worried about the safety of the players. I think everyone comes here to watch football. Me too, but safety is paramount. When the match started, the ball moved difficultly, some people slipped, any player of both teams could get injured, he said.
Coach Kewell admitted that the team had many difficulties in the face of the opponent's playing style but showed their mettle. We had difficulty with the way we played, the important thing was that the players kept focused and in the end we got 3 points.
The 47-year-old coach also sent his best wishes to captain Van Quyet - who was absent for personal reasons: "It is a pity that Van Quyet is not present. For me, family is the only thing, bigger than football. I would like to send my best wishes to Van Quyet".
