On the afternoon of July 15, the Vietnamese team returned to training in Hanoi after nearly two weeks of training in Korea to prepare for the ASEAN Cup 2026.
Sharing before the training session, midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc said that the whole team has made progress in terms of fitness, expertise and cohesion after three friendly matches.
After two weeks in Korea, the whole team had physical training sessions as well as three very useful friendly matches. That helps the brothers connect with each other more and understand more about the coach's tactics. Personally, I think this is a very good training trip," Hoang Duc said.
According to the midfielder of Ninh Binh club, coach Kim Sang-sik continuously changed tactical plans and experimented with personnel so that players could adapt to many different operating methods.
Each match or each training session, the coach gives different plans. The whole team is gradually adapting to the coach's playing style and tactics," Hoang Duc shared.
He also said that the fact that players are arranged to play in many different positions in friendly matches will help the team have more tactical options when entering the tournament.
Regarding the force, Hoang Duc expressed regret that center-back Do Duy Manh had to leave the national team due to injury.
Today the whole team knows the news that he cannot continue to accompany in the upcoming tournament, it is really sad. I always encourage and hope that Mr. Manh will recover soon to return in the next tournaments," Hoang Duc said.
Assessing teammate Nguyen Tai Loc, the midfielder born in 1998 said that this player has many strengths, especially speed and free-kick ability.
Tai Loc has many strengths. I hope that when entering the tournament, Tai Loc will contribute many assists as well as many goals for the Vietnamese team," Hoang Duc said.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will have another training session in Hanoi before going to Thai Nguyen to prepare for the friendly match against Myanmar on July 18. This will be the final general rehearsal of coach Kim Sang-sik's team before entering the journey to defend the ASEAN Cup 2026 championship.
This is also the first time I have been to Thai Nguyen to play. I hope fans will come to the stadium in large numbers to motivate the team. We will play with the highest spirit," Hoang Duc expressed.
