On May 29, Steering Committee 515 of Can Tho City organized a conference to deploy the plan and launch emulation to implement the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains".
Implementing the plan, Can Tho City established an inter-sectoral working group of 9 members led by Colonel Pham Ngoc Quang - Political Commissar of the Can Tho City Military Command as Team Leader; members are representatives of departments, agencies, branches and communes and wards.

At the same time, the city established 2 teams to take biological samples of martyrs' remains for unidentified graves at martyrs' cemeteries in the area; specialized teams serving the work of taking samples, preserving, and transporting; together with the Provisional Team for searching and collecting martyrs' remains including 38 officers and soldiers in coordination with communes, wards and Team K90 (Political Department of Military Region 9) to perform the task. The implementation period is from May 2026 to May 2027.
In parallel with the search and repatriation work, the city also deploys the collection of biological samples of remains of unidentified martyrs to serve DNA testing. Currently, there are 17/21 martyrs' cemeteries in the area that need to take samples for 5,122 remains of unidentified martyrs.

Speaking at the Conference, Colonel Nguyen Thuc Linh - Deputy Head of the Political Department, Standing Deputy Head of the 515 Steering Committee of Military Region 9 requested to mobilize all the best resources in terms of personnel, vehicles and medical and technical equipment.
The process of excavating and taking biological samples of martyrs' remains absolutely complies with strict technical procedures (according to the 8 steps guidelines of the Ministry of National Defense), ensuring absolute safety and high accuracy to serve effective DNA testing. For graves with suspicion or only partial information, it is necessary to take samples thoroughly, avoiding omissions.
