Coach Phan Thanh Hung passed away on the evening of August 11. He was born in 1960, used to hold the position of head coach of the Vietnamese national team. He also worked for many years at professional clubs and participated in coaching and training young players.
Before his death, coach Phan Thanh Hung was a member of the National Coaching Council. He still participated in professional activities of Vietnamese football.
Notably, on August 9 in Da Nang, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Nguyen Xuan Vu awarded the Medal "For the Cause of Vietnamese Football" to coach Phan Thanh Hung.
According to VFF, this award aims to recognize the contributions of coach Phan Thanh Hung to the development of Vietnamese football.
At the meeting, VFF leaders inquired about his health and conveyed words of encouragement from the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the VFF Executive Committee to coach Phan Thanh Hung. Vice President Nguyen Xuan Vu also recalled the memories during the time Mr. Phan Thanh Hung accompanied the U20 Vietnam team during the training camp in Japan.
The passing of coach Phan Thanh Hung left much regret in the football world and sports press. A close colleague wrote a farewell message to him: "Hearing the news of his passing, I was silent in emotions.
Coach Phan Thanh Hung was born in 1960, grew up from Da Nang football and used to play and work as a coach at his hometown team. In his coaching career, he has led many clubs in the V.League and the Vietnamese national team.
With contributions over many years, coach Phan Thanh Hung is recognized as one of the coaches with a lot of experience in Vietnamese football.
