On September 23, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) of Can Tho City coordinated with the Vietnam Volleyball Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the 2024 National Beach Volleyball 2x2 Team Championship.
The Organizing Committee informed that the tournament gathered 64 athletes from 9 units, cities and sectors across the country, including: Hai Phong, Military Region 5, SANVINEST Khanh Hoa, Corps 4, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ben Tre, Kien Giang and Can Tho City.
The tournament will take place from September 23 to 26 at the beach volleyball court of Can Tho City Sports Center, Cai Khe ward, Ninh Kieu district.
Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City - said that every year, the teams have invested and continuously improved. The Organizing Committee hopes that the athletes will always show their determination, compete with the spirit of dedication, to create exciting and fierce matches, demonstrating the technical expertise of beach volleyball to serve the audience.
According to Mr. Viet, the tournament plays an important role in the system of national sports tournaments and annual traditional tournaments held in the city. Thereby, promoting the training and building of beach volleyball athletes nationwide; training talents, selecting outstanding young faces to focus on the National Youth Team to participate in international tournaments, gradually integrating with the continental beach volleyball scene.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also awarded the 2024 National Youth Beach Volleyball 2x2 Team Championship.
Previously, from September 20 to 22, the matches of the Youth Beach Volleyball Championship took place in Can Tho City. The final results, in the men's category, the first prize went to the Ba Ria - Vung Tau team; the second prize went to the Khanh Hoa team; the Ben Tre team and Ho Chi Minh City team shared the third prize. In the women's category, the first prize went to the Can Tho team; the second prize went to the Kien Giang team; the Hai Phong team and Ho Chi Minh City shared the third prize.
