Previously in the round of 32, Nguyen Dang Tuyen had an unbelievable victory over the very strong player from the Philippines, Miraflor John Carlos Ignacio.
After being down 3-8, the young Vietnamese player played like he was possessed with 6 consecutive wins to come back and win 9-8, surprising both his opponent and the audience. It is known that Dang Tuyen, born in 2004, has only been playing pool for about 4 years.
In other matches of the quarter-final, Yu Si Li won dramatically 9-8 against Bang Chi Thong. Nguyen Huu Binh won 9-4 against Phan Van Kien. Chu Viet Hoang won 9-6 against Nguyen Ba Manh.
Assis Tadique won 9-7 over Nguyen Dang Quoc Trung. Pham Van Dinh won 9-6 over Tat Duy Kien.
Former national champion Nguyen Hoang Minh Tai lost 7-9 to Cuna Ruben Ampore, while Nguyen Van Huynh lost 4-9 to Raymund Faraon.
On September 23, the tournament took place on the final day of the qualifying round with 3 matches: quarter-finals (at 10am), semi-finals (at 1pm) and finals (at 4pm) to find the owner of the qualifying round championship worth 5,000 USD (equivalent to about 130 million VND).
The four quarter-final matches include Yu Si Li vs Chu Viet Hoang, Assis Tadique vs Nguyen Huu Binh, Nguyen Dang Tuyen vs Pham Van Dinh and the civil war between Cuna Ruben Ampore vs Raymund Faraon.
The awards ceremony for the qualifying round will take place after the final match.

The qualifying round has 128 Vietnamese and international players competing from September 20-23, at the Sports Service Center (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City) to compete for the championship of 5,000 USD (about 130 million VND) and 32 places to advance to the final round.
In the final round taking place from September 25-29, at Ho Xuan Huong Stadium (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City), 128 players, including 96 players with official slots, including the world's top superstars, and 32 players who passed the qualifying round will compete for the championship title of up to 35,000 USD (nearly 900 million VND). This is the largest prize money in the history of Billiards Pool Vietnam.
