According to the match schedule, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have an encounter with U21 Elite Canada as part of the opening match at the Future Stars friendly tournament (Shanghai, China).
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team can think about a first victory, when their opponent is a young team.
On the world rankings, Canadian volleyball ranks 10th, while Vietnam ranks 32nd. However, U21 Elite Canada is still a young team and does not have much competition experience. Therefore, this is also an advantage for the Vietnamese volleyball team in the next match.
Mr. Kiet's students are all battle-hardened players. They have accompanied each other through many regional and continental tournaments such as SEA Games, SEA V.League, AVC Challenge Cup, FIVB Challenger, AVC Club Volleyball Championship, ASIAD...
Notably, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the AVC Challenge Cup 2023 and 2024 (Asia) twice and won 3rd place in the FIVB Challenger Cup 2024 (world). Experience from the above tournaments will help Bich Tuyen and his teammates confidently face U21 Elite Canada.
Of course, if comparing physical strength and physical condition, Vietnamese players will be at a disadvantage compared to their opponents. Therefore, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet needs to have a reasonable tactical plan to defend firmly, especially in situations where Canada quickly blocks the ball at the net or plays along the line.
Regarding the competition squad, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have personnel adjustments in the absence of Thanh Thuy, Lam Oanh or Kieu Trinh.
The coaching staff can arrange a lineup including main attacker Tran Tu Linh, opposing passer Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen , supporting attacker Le Thanh Thuy, libero Khanh Dang, second striker Vo Thi Kim Thoa and supporting attacker Nguyen Thi Trinh.
In addition, at some point, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet may use some other replacement players such as Tra My, Nhu Quynh or test some new factors such as Van Ha, Quynh Huong.
The match between the Vietnamese women's volleyball team and Canada's U21 Elite will take place at 1:00 p.m. on July 22.
