Initial information, at around 11am on October 15, people suddenly heard a loud explosion, followed by a column of black smoke rising, a tanker truck was engulfed in flames at Tu Phuoc Gas Station located on Quan Lo - Phung Hiep route, in Phuoc Long town, Phuoc Long district, Bac Lieu province.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Phuoc Long town, at the time of the incident, the tanker truck was refueling at Tu Phuoc gas station when the pump pipe suddenly exploded, causing the vehicle to catch fire, with a column of smoke tens of meters high.
At the scene, the tanker truck burned fiercely and was severely damaged, then the fire spread to the area near the gas station warehouse.
Upon receiving the information, Phuoc Long District Police quickly dispatched forces and specialized fire trucks to the scene to help extinguish the fire and regulate traffic.
About 20 minutes later, the fire was completely extinguished. The fire caused a gas station employee to suffer minor burns to his face and was taken to the Phuoc Long District Medical Center for treatment. The tanker driver was also taken to a medical facility due to panic.
The incident damaged about 5 gas stations by 50% and completely damaged the gas pipes.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the fire.
