Accordingly, for Vietnamese women's football, the national team continues to rank 37th in the world, 6th in Asia and holds the No. 1 position in Southeast Asia. The latest rankings were announced by FIFA on March 6. In fact, that is the result of 2024 when there are no major events for regional women's football, the rankings of the teams do not shift much (only the Thai team dropped due to unsuccessful competition in the friendly tournament). However, that continues to be the motivation for the Vietnam National Team to focus on 2025.
In 2025, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will compete in the Asian Cup qualifiers, AFF Cup and SEA Games 33. And not only the goal of winning tickets, championships or medals, the Vietnam Women's Team must make even more efforts in the face of the determination of opponents in the region such as the Philippines - the reigning AFF Cup champion for women, or Thailand determined to return to compete for the No. 1 position with Vietnam.
When the team has more veteran and older players, coach Mai Duc Chung will need to intervene with young, suitable players without being too massive. The good news is that in addition to some existing young players, since the end of 2024, Mr. Chung has called up other young players to gather in Hanoi, compete in international friendly tournaments or even train in Europe.
Another good news - including the Vietnam National Team, is that for the first time in the history of 2 decades of the AFF Women's Cup, the tournament has an official sponsor. That is MSIG Insurance Company from Japan. The information shows that this is one of the few insurance companies that are present in all countries in ASEAN, meaning that, at least, through the monitoring process, they have seen the development and potential of Southeast Asian women's football. The three women's teams in the region, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, have won tickets to the Women's World Cup, in which the Philippines even won 1 match.
With MSIG's goal of contributing to "enhancing not only the region but also reaching out to the world", it is clear that Southeast Asian women's football in general and Vietnam in particular have more motivation to develop strongly.
