Right after the end of the Tet holiday, 2 players Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu and Tran Quyet Chien went to Germany to participate in the 2026 World 3-cushion carom team tournament.
The tournament will take place from February 26 to March 1. The World Union of Billiards (UMB) has announced the list of 16 teams qualified for the final round including Jordan, Colombia, Japan, Turkey (Group A); Germany, Vietnam, France, Mexico (Group B); Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Greece (Group C); Spain, Egypt, South Korea, USA (Group D).
The players will compete in turns in each pair in their group. The organizers stipulate that the 2 teams that achieve the best results after the group stage will have the right to advance to the knockout stage to compete for the championship cup.
In Group B, the Vietnamese billiards team will meet Mexico in the first match on February 26. The players of the Mexican team participating in the tournament are Christian Hernandez and Alejandro Santiago.
This year is the 38th year that the world 3-cushion carom team tournament has been held. Vietnamese Billiards has had good results in the last 2 participations in 2024 and 2025.
In 2024, the Vietnamese billiards team with players Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh won gold medals.
In 2025, Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh lost to the Netherlands team in the final, so they received a silver medal. The Dutch players who won against the Vietnamese billiards team in the 2025 final are Dick Jaspers, Jean Paul de Bruijn. This year, the Dutch billiards team registered 2 players Dick Jaspers, Glenn Hofman to compete to defend their No. 1 position.
