2024 is not complete
Vietnam Sports 2024 did not have many highlights. At the Olympic arena, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation had 16 athletes competing but did not win any medals. This is also the second consecutive Olympics that Vietnam "left empty-handed".
The best achievement at the Paris Olympics belongs to shooter Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting) with 4th place in the women's 10m air pistol event and 7th place in the women's 25m sport pistol event.
Meanwhile, at the Paralympics, the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation completed its target with a bronze medal from Le Van Cong in the 49kg weightlifting category.
The remaining marks of Vietnamese sports are in singles. Accordingly, the men's football team under the leadership of new coach Kim Sang-sik won the ASEAN Cup championship after 6 years of waiting. In addition, the Vietnamese women's futsal team also won the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship, and entered the Top 10 women's futsal teams in the world.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued to reap many achievements. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team won the FIVB Challenger Cup bronze medal (world level) for the first time, won the AVC Challenge Cup (Asian level) for the second consecutive time and were runners-up in the SEA V.League (Southeast Asia).
What goals does Vietnamese sports set for 2025?
Looking towards 2025, Vietnamese sports have many important tasks, especially the 33rd SEA Games taking place in Thailand. Since the beginning of the year, national teams have had training and practice plans to prepare for important tournaments.
Accordingly, the specific goals set by the Department of Physical Training and Sports are to continue completing legal documents and projects according to the content committed to the Minister.
In particular, Vietnamese sports aims to maintain its position in the top group at the 33rd SEA Games and strive to lead the Olympic and ASIAD sports at the 33rd SEA Games. This is considered the most important task of the industry in the coming year.
For men's football, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team aim to regain the gold medal at this year's Southeast Asian Games. Right now, the Korean strategist has begun to select the players for the Vietnam U22 team.
In addition, the national women's volleyball team continues to aim for a new level when participating in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship for the first time. Besides, the most important goal is still the goal of competing for the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games.
