In the final A of the women's four-wheeled boat event on the Nagaragawa race track, 4 Vietnamese rowers entered the race with high determination against strong opponents from Asia.
Du Thi Bong, Le Thi Hien, Pham Thi Ngoc Anh and Ha Thi Vui maintained stable speed throughout the race, completing the competition with a time of 6 minutes 43 seconds, thereby winning a bronze medal. The Vietnamese team was only 2 seconds behind the Uzbekistan team, showing that the gap between the teams in the medal-winning group was very close.
This is a noteworthy result in the context that the rowing schedule at ASIAD 20 was changed due to the impact of heavy rain. According to the initial plan, the rowing events would take place in 5 days, but the schedule was adjusted and concentrated on two days, September 23rd and 24th.
Shortening the competition schedule forces rowers to compete with higher density, while the rest and recovery time between turns is narrowed. Nagaragawa Racecourse is the venue for the ASIAD 20 rowing events, with a standard length of 2,000 m.
Before entering the final, the quartet Pham Thi Ngoc Anh, Le Thi Hien, Ha Thi Vui and Du Thi Bong competed in the qualifying round on September 23. Just one day later, the 4 rowers continued to enter the medal race. The rowing competition schedule on September 24 includes many final events held consecutively in Nagaragawa.
The bronze medals of Du Thi Bong, Le Thi Hien, Pham Thi Ngoc Anh and Ha Thi Vui contributed another achievement for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at ASIAD 20. This achievement also closed the competition of the Vietnamese women's rowing quartet in conditions of tight schedule and limited recovery time.
