The Conferences are focused on high performance sports.
Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to deploy the Vietnam Sports Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
Now, according to the working program, in December 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is expected to preside and the Department of Physical Training and Sports will organize a Conference to give comments on the Draft Program for developing key sports to prepare for the Olympics and ASIAD until 2030 with a vision to 2045.
The common point of the Conferences that have been and will be held by the sports industry is to invite professional experts, managers and people working in training and coaching high-performance sports. From there, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Physical Education and Sports recorded opinions to further improve the implementation content.
The ultimate goal that managers expect is that we have programs and plans for high-performance sports, so with the invested resources, the results must bring success.
During the working session last weekend on the preparation plan for the Conference on comments on the Draft Program for developing key sports to prepare for the Olympics and ASIAD until 2030 with a vision to 2045, Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Dang Ha Viet requested that professional units must closely follow reality to develop appropriate implementation timelines. At the same time, this conference is meant to focus on the goals of ASIAD and Olympics, so it will be necessary to have comments from experts so that Vietnamese sports can face the truth that key investments must be correct and... accurate.
Which subject should I invest in?
According to the preparation of the Department of Physical Training and Sports, the management is focusing and investing to achieve high results in the group of 16 key sports: athletics, shooting, swimming, weightlifting, archery, taekwondo, fencing, boxing, gymnastics, cycling, judo, karate, wushu, badminton, sepak takraw and rowing.
Former Director of Department of High Performance Sports 1 (General Department of Sports and Physical Training) - Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh analyzed that, "choosing a sport to invest in is always necessary, but managers need to look at the practical development of the continent and the world. From there, the investment will be accurate".
There are opinions that finding key sports, content and athletes to invest in is not something that Vietnamese sports have just done. Every year, each sport, Federation, Sports Association and each national sports team evaluates the results of training and coaching based on the year's international competition results and has future professional forecasts. The most important point that Vietnamese sports have not been able to perfect well lies in the synchronization of investment.
We are gathering national sports teams at the National Sports Training Centers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho and at the Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports. Overall, these are the most concentrated training locations, reserved for national sports team athletes. However, the facilities at each training location are not yet up to the best standards.
The managers of the Department of Physical Education and Sports understand this, but to focus on specialized sports (specifically the 16 sports mentioned above) is a long-term plan. That is the reason why the Conference on comments on the Draft Program for developing key sports to prepare for the Olympics and ASIAD until 2030 with a vision to 2045 is scheduled for implementation.
Closing the Conference on orientation for high-performance sports development to 2030 (December 2023), many contents were presented in the conclusion of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, but after 1 year, in reality, the number of programs implemented is still very small.
