According to international media, about 7,000 tickets are still listed on FIFA's official ticket sales system before the World Cup 2026 third-place match between England and France, taking place at 4:00 AM on July 19 (Vietnam time).
Both England and France entered the tournament with the goal of conquering the championship. However, the two European representatives successively stopped in the semi-finals after losing to Argentina and Spain, causing the third-place match to no longer receive much attention from fans.
To improve the situation, FIFA has adjusted ticket prices in many classes. In which, first-class tickets are reduced from 1,125 USD to 659 USD, while many other classes of tickets are also reduced by nearly 50% compared to the initial price.
However, the British press believes that the attraction of the match is still not high and many stands may have gaps when fans no longer have much motivation to watch the match, which only has the meaning of determining the team to win the bronze medal.
Not only the audience, but the players are also said to have difficulty maintaining excitement after missing the opportunity to participate in the final.
England coach Thomas Tuchel admitted: "None of our players and no French players want to play this match. They want to play in the final. Everyone is aiming for the World Cup title, but the reality is not as desired".
The World Cup 2026 third-place match will take place one day before the final match between Argentina and Spain. Although they no longer have a chance to compete for the championship, both England and France still aim for a victory to close the tournament in third place.
