The familiar slow-motion playing style has caused the world No. 1 to lose the break early. Murray not only failed to reclaim the lost break but also lost another ball- handling game to Nishikori and had to let the set go with a score of 2-6.
In set 2, the game completely reversed. Murray gradually regained control of the game thanks to dangerous trai shots. He took advantage of Nishikori's negligence and unnecessary mistakes in the 4th and 6th games to take a 5-1 lead before bringing the match back to a 1-1 draw.
Set 3 witnessed a fierce score chase between the two when both won the break but then lost the break right after that. In a tug-of-war situation, the players took each other to the tie-break but only Murray had the fighting spirit while Nishikori was unable to hold on to a point and had to watch Murray finish the set with a score of 7-6 (7-0).
In the decisive set 4, Nishikori seemed to no longer be himself in the first set but continued to restore his poor form as in the second set and sadly gave up the ticket to continue to Murray when the English player won 6-1.
Winning 3-1, Murray continued to register his name in the Semi-finals. His opponent in the upcoming match is Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss tennis player did not take too much effort to make Marin Cilic suffer a save with a score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-1.
In the previous women's singles quarter-final, seed No. 3 - Simona Halep had a spectacular comeback against seed No. 5 - Elina Svitolina with a score of 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. The opponent she will have to overcome to qualify for the final and the world No. 1 title is Karoline Pliskova when the No. 2 seed defeated the home team Caroline Garcia with a score of 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.
