In the early morning of July 18, England had an impressive comeback against Sweden to qualify for the 2025 Women's Euro semi-finals.

The match started smoothly for Sweden when they opened the scoring early in the 2nd minute thanks to an accurate finish by Kosovare Asllani. The 3-year-old player became the oldest player to score in a Women's Euro final. In the 25th minute, Stina Blackstenius increased the score to 2-0 after England's uncertain defense.

In the second half, England adjusted their tactics and increased the pressure of attack. In the 79th minute, defender Lucy Bronze scored to reduce the gap to 1-2 with a close-range header. Just a few seconds later, young player Michelle Agyeman took advantage of the counter-attack opportunity to equalize 2-2, taking the match into extra time.

In the 30 minutes of extra play, no goals were scored. The match had to be decided by a penalty shootout, where both teams faced difficulties. Only 5 out of 14 shots were successful. England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton saved two shots and was voted "Best Player of the Match".

On the contrary, Swedish goalkeeper Jennifer Falk saved 4 times in a penalty shootout but missed the home team's final shot.

England won 3-2 after a penalty shootout, becoming the first team in the history of women's Euro to qualify for the knockout round after falling 0-2 behind. This is also the second consecutive time this team has reached the semi-finals. In the next round, England will meet the Italian women's team on July 22 in Geneva.

Meanwhile, Sweden stopped at the quarter-finals after a match in which they had a big advantage but could not maintain the results during the official competition.
