The World Football Federation (FIFA) has just announced the rankings for September 2025. The Vietnam team continued to drop one place, down to 114th place in the world and second in Southeast Asia.
In September, the Vietnam team did not play an international friendly tournament, so there were no extra points. The two matches against Nam Dinh and Hanoi Police are only internal training and are not included in the FIFA scoring system.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand still holds the leading position when increasing by one place, ranking 101st in the world. Indonesia ranked 119th (down one place), Malaysia ranked 123th (up two places), while the Philippines rose to 143th (up two places).
On the world level, Spain rose to the number one position after a one-point increase. On the contrary, Duc left the top 10 when he dropped to 12th place due to poor performance. In Asia, Japan is still the highest-ranked team, despite being reduced by two places to 21st place. The next positions belong to Iran, South Korea, Australia and Qatar.
The change in the FIFA rankings shows increasing competition, especially in Southeast Asia, where many teams are improving their performance to aim for major tournaments.
