After 3 matches in Group A, U19 Vietnam had 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. Only winning 4 points makes U19 Vietnam ineligible to enter their name in the semi-finals of the 2024 U19 Southeast Asia tournament .
Today (July 25), the team leaves to return home to achieve the important goal of the 2025 Asian U20 qualifiers to take place next September.
Because there is no direct flight from Surabaya to Vietnam, just like the departure, the team took a flight from Jakarta to Ho Chi Minh City and said goodbye here. Members of the Southern and Central regions will return to the host club according to the original registration schedule. Meanwhile, the group of members in the Northern region continued to connect to Hanoi and arrived at Noi Bai airport at 10:15 p.m. on the same day.
According to coach Hua Hien Vinh's assessment, at the 2024 Southeast Asia U19 tournament, the Vietnam U19 team was exposed to different playing styles. That is very good for the professional development of young players.
“For example, Australia U19 changed status quickly, while Myanmar U19 was shrinking. Those are good experiences for the players. The coaching staff will come up with many ways to play to adapt later," said coach Hua Hien Vinh.
Coach Hua Hien Vinh advised his players at the airport before the players returned to their host club. The majority of U19 Vietnam players will continue to compete in the 2024 National U21 tournament qualifying round.
Ending the journey at the regional playground, U19 Vietnam will reunite in mid-August to prepare for the 2025 Asian U20 qualifiers.
It is expected that coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team will have a long training trip in Japan. Specifically, U19 Vietnam will have 3 friendly matches in the land of the rising sun, then return to Vietnam to play 2 more friendly matches, before entering the journey in the 2025 Asian U20 qualifiers.
The 2025 Asian U20 qualifying round will have 45 teams participating and divided into 5 groups of 5 teams and 5 groups of 4 teams. The 10 group winners and 5 best second-place teams will win tickets to the final round with the host team China.
In this qualifying round, the U19 Vietnam team is in Group A, along with Syria, Bhutan, Guam and Bangladesh. The matches in Group A are hosted by Vietnam and will take place at Lach Tray Stadium (Hai Phong).
