This continues to be a recognition of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF)'s ability to organize international tournaments, and at the same time creates an advantage for the Vietnam U17 women's team when playing at home.
According to the plan, the qualifying round draw will take place on July 16. The qualifying round matches will be organized in a centralized format from October 5 to 11, 2026.
The qualifying round of the 2027 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup has the participation of 31 teams. Among them, 4 teams that won the right to participate in the 2026 U17 Women's World Cup, including the host of the final round, China, were specially admitted directly to the final round of the 2027 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup and did not participate in the qualifying round.
According to seed grouping, Vietnam's U17 women's team is in group number 1 with South Korea, Thailand, Philippines, India, Taiwan (China), Indonesia and Myanmar.
According to AFC's format, the teams will be divided into 8 groups, including 7 groups with 4 teams and 1 group with 3 teams. The teams will play in a single round-robin format in the host countries to select the top 8 teams to qualify for the final round of the 2027 AFC U17 Women's Championship.
Notably, the Nepal U17 women's team did not participate in the qualifiers because the Nepal Football Federation is being suspended by FIFA. Therefore, AFC adjusted the list of participating teams before conducting the draw.
After the draw ceremony took place on the afternoon of July 16, VFF will announce the schedule as well as the opponents of the Vietnam U17 women's team in the group stage hosted by Vietnam.
