Lai Chau - A grandmother and grandchild living 3km from the central area on a forest road have been taken to a safe place by functional forces.

After the flash flood that occurred in Muong Than commune, Lai Chau province, officers and soldiers of the forces continuously stayed in the area, deploying search and rescue work, and supporting people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

In addition to the task of searching for missing victims, functional forces also directly support relatives of families with deceased people to organize funerals.

In the context of divided terrain, many roads were deeply flooded, muddy, the soldiers transported coffins, supporting the victims to their final resting place according to local customs.

On the afternoon of July 18, Lai Chau Provincial Police informed that during the duty, the Mobile Police force promptly rescued two grandmothers and grandchildren trapped in a dangerous area.

The soldiers overcame the fast-flowing floodwaters and complex mountainous terrain, bringing the two grandmothers and grandchildren from an area about 3km from the commune center to a safe place.

According to the report of Muong Than Commune Police, as of 7:30 am on July 18, flash floods and landslides had killed 4 people.

Currently, there are still 4 people missing, including Pham Bao C (11 years old), Ms. Luong Thi X (45 years old), Ms. Do Thi H (54 years old) and Ms. Nguyen Thi M (68 years old), all residing in Chit village.

Regarding the injured, there are 7 cases being treated at medical facilities. Among them, Mr. Lo Van C (33 years old) and Mr. Pham Thanh H (35 years old) are being treated at Than Uyen General Hospital.

The remaining five victims include Ms. Giang Thi M (32 years old, Muong Kim commune), Ms. Lo Thi T (28 years old), Ms. Lo Thi M (41 years old), Ms. Lo Thi M (29 years old) and baby Luong Gia Linh (1 year old) who are being treated at Tan Uyen General Hospital.

Currently, functional forces of Lai Chau province are still maintaining forces at the scene, coordinating with local authorities to continue searching for missing victims.

At the same time, supporting people to clean up their houses, overcome the consequences of natural disasters and soon stabilize their lives.
