At the invitation of the Cambodian Kickboxing Federation and Kickboxing Ranking Vietnam Company, the top star of Vietnamese kickboxing Huynh Van Tuan participated in the ring against the home boxer Met Romly in the 54kg category in the professional competition format of Kun Khmer - the official martial art at the 32nd SEA Games and has many similarities with Thai Muay Thai.
Thanks to careful physical and mental preparation, Huynh Van Tuan quickly overwhelmed his opponent in the first round with precise and powerful punches.
In the second round, Met Romly tried to fight back to regain the game, but his extensive experience and effective counterattacks continued to help the Vietnamese fighter stand firm. Even at the end of the second round, Huynh Van Tuan almost knocked out his opponent after he launched a precise hook to Met Romly's chin, forcing the referees to stop and count the Cambodian fighter when they saw signs of dizziness.
In the third round, the Cambodian boxer once again fought back fiercely in the hope of turning the game around. But just like the previous two rounds, Huynh Van Tuan still proved his mettle as an Asian champion with rhythmic and flexible moves in attack and defense. After the end of the match, the referee determined the final victory belonged to Huynh Van Tuan of Vietnam amid the applause of congratulations from the Cambodian audience present at the stadium.
This victory is also considered a memorable comeback of Huynh Van Tuan in Cambodia, because before that, this boxer also won an Asian gold medal at the Kickboxing tournament that took place last October.
Mr. Ho Thanh Liem, Director of Kickboxing Ranking Vietnam Company, said: "Huynh Van Tuan's victory brings many positive signals to the plan to develop Vietnamese kickboxing in bringing Vietnamese boxers to major international arenas in the near future."
Also according to Mr. Ho Thanh Liem, on this occasion, Kickboxing Ranking Vietnam Company will sign a cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation. Accordingly, Kickboxing Ranking Vietnam will sponsor 300 million VND/year for 5 years for the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation in distributing competition clothes, protective equipment, competition tools... as well as connecting to create a playground for Vietnamese boxers to compete in major tournaments at home and abroad.
