The Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup 2025 held in Ninh Binh ended on March 9. This is the tournament to kick off the new season of Vietnamese volleyball. 6 men's teams and 6 women's teams competed enthusiastically to find the two champions, Bien Phong Club (men) and LPB Ninh Binh (women).
For women's clubs, the recent tournament helped coaches of the teams evaluate the squad to aim for phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship. In the recent tournament, only VTV Binh Dien Long An introduced foreign players, the rest of the teams used 100% domestic players. This partly helps make competition fair.
In fact, many positive results have been shown in the matches. For Vietinbank, under the leadership of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the force of young players played enthusiastically and fiercely, creating many difficulties for the two opponents, VTV Binh Dien Long An and Thanh Hoa. In particular, the two young players borrowed, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Dang Thi Hong, showed their role in attacking and scoring in the squad.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet commented: "Vietinbank is still in a difficult training period. Therefore, I think that for us or other teams participating in the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup 2025, the tournament is considered a test to test all positions before the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship. The matches will help players realize their shortcomings.
Both players Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Dang Thi Hong are young and have potential. They also showed progress every day. For Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, she has affirmed herself in the main striker position for about 1-2 years now. Nhu Quynh's serve technique has improved and his playing performance is also quite high.
Meanwhile, Dang Thi Hong is the type of striker who tends to be strong. Although he only came to train with the team for a short time, he tried his best to integrate with the team. I also create conditions for Hong to express his qualities".
Another team, VTV Binh Dien Long An, is also mentioned a lot after a 1-3 defeat to the Information Corps in the semi-finals. This match pointed out many problems of coach Thai Quang Lai and his team, from the first step, the connection between positions to the attacking ability of foreign players. Thanh Thuy and her teammates will certainly learn from their experience after the tournament in Ninh Binh.
For Thai Binh, they are the team that is considered the weakest in the women's event. However, under the guidance of the enthusiastic coach Tran Van Giap, Nguyen Thi Uyen and her teammates have shown the effectiveness of the squad as a combination of experience and youth. They left their mark in many times of the sets when they tried to chase the score, their spirit did not give up.
"The goal that the leaders and the whole team set for the Thai Binh women's team in the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup 2025 is to let young players compete. On the field, they still lack many skills to compete in tense matches, against opponents with fast playing style. There was a time when my players didn't keep up with the pace of the match.
But with the current player resources and spirit, I am still satisfied that the students have tried their best in each phase of the ball. This is the basis for us to aim for phase 1 with the goal of staying in the league," coach Tran Van Giap of the Thai Binh women's team discussed with Lao Dong.
Right after the end of the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup 2025, a number of teams moved to Hanoi to prepare for the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, starting on March 21 at the Dong Anh District Gymnasium.
