Accordingly, after the first 2 series of shots (each series of 5 shots), Thu Vinh scored 99.4 points and ranked 4th out of 8 athletes to continue entering the single series. The top 3 shooters ranked above Vietnam are Oh Ye-in (Korea), Kim Yeji (Korea) and Manu Bhaker (India).
In the following single shooting series, Trinh Thu Vinh maintained stability and a safe ranking to reach the top 4. Meanwhile, athletes Major Veronika (Hungary), Ilayda (Turkey), Jiang Ranxin (China), Li Xue (China) were eliminated after each shot.
In the 7th shooting series, Trinh Thu Vinh scored 9.9 points after 2 shots, a total score of 198.6 and 2.7 points less than Bhaker (India). This result caused her to stop at 4th place overall, missing the opportunity to win an Olympic medal.
Previously, in the 5th and 6th shots, unfortunately, Thu Vinh had 2 points of 9.2, causing the gap with the Indian athlete (3rd position) to widen and unable to be leveled.
By the 8th shot, Bhaker also stopped with 221.7 points, meaning the Olympic bronze medal. Meanwhile, the competition for the gold medal is an internal match between two Korean shooters Oh Ye-jin and Kim Yeji.
Accordingly, 19-year-old female athlete Oh Ye-jin showed high concentration and remarkable stable performance. She scored 10.0 and 10.6 points respectively in the last 2 shots, while teammate Kim Yeji only scored 9.7 and 9.8 points.
With this result, Oh Ye-jin excellently won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and also broke the Olympic record with a total score of 243.2 points (the old record was 204.3 points). Her teammate Kim Yeji won the silver medal with 241.3 points, this score also surpassed the old Olympic record.
