At 6:45 PM on May 26, WTI oil price was at 92.60 USD/barrel, down 4 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 4.14%. Brent oil was at 96.06 USD/barrel, up 2.64 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.83%.
Brent oil prices rose more than 2% on Tuesday after US troops launched attacks in Iran, increasing uncertainty about whether an agreement could be reached soon to end the war and reopen shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Tuesday that negotiating an agreement with Iran could "take days", extinguishing hopes of an early end to the conflict a day after US forces launched what Washington called defensive attacks in southern Iran.
Previously, on May 25, US President Donald Trump said in a social media post that he had urged Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan to join the Abraham Treaty and establish diplomatic relations with Israel in the context that the US administration is continuing negotiations with Iran.
The White House leader added that discussions with Iran are "going well", although he warned that the US could return to offensive measures if negotiations break down. "It would be a great deal for everyone, or there would be no deal at all" - Mr. Trump wrote.
Regarding the domestic gasoline and oil market, a representative of a business said that finished gasoline and oil prices continue to decrease. Accordingly, it is forecast that gasoline and oil prices in the operating period on May 28 will simultaneously reverse to decrease. In which, it is forecast that RON95 gasoline may decrease by 1,500 - 2,000 VND/liter; E5 RON92 gasoline decreases by 1,300 - 1,800 VND/liter; DO oil decreases by 1,000 - 1,500 VND/liter.
Domestically, the selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items on the market on May 26 are as follows:
- E5 RON 92 gasoline: not higher than 24,340 VND/liter, lower than RON 95-III gasoline by 1,209 VND/liter;
- RON 95-III gasoline: not higher than 25,549 VND/liter;
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 28,761 VND/liter;
- 180CST 3.5S mazut oil: not higher than 21,483 VND/kg.
