As of 11:30 a.m. today (December 6), the domestic coffee market continued its upward trend, with an average increase of VND5,600/kg, causing prices to fluctuate between VND118,500 and VND120,200/kg. The average coffee purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces is VND120,100/kg.
Lam Dong is still the province with the lowest coffee purchasing price in the Central Highlands. Compared to the closing price yesterday (December 5), coffee prices in this region increased by 5,000 VND/kg, currently standing at 118,500 VND/kg.
In the same direction, coffee purchasing prices in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces today ranked second on the chart with a dizzying increase, respectively the highest at 5,700 VND/kg and 5,500 VND/kg, both listed at 120,000 VND/kg.
Notably, Dak Nong firmly holds the leading position in the province and city with the highest coffee purchasing price in the country, setting the mark of 120,200 VND/kg.
On the London and New York exchanges, the coffee market continued to rise in all terms. The contract for delivery in January 2025 increased by 2.62% (equivalent to 125 USD/ton), standing at 4,895 USD/ton. The contract for delivery in March 2025 increased by less than 0.05%, remaining at 4,873 USD/ton.
Similarly, developments in the New York Arabica coffee market for delivery terms in December 2024 and March 2025 simultaneously skyrocketed around 313.50 - 311.30 cents/lb (up nearly 3.30%).
The sudden increase and decrease in coffee prices has made purchasing and exporting units cautious in every step they take.
Meanwhile, many gardeners, after bringing their products to market early at a time when domestic coffee prices had just increased slightly, and then continuously chasing the peak, have learned from their experience in selling.
According to experts, coffee is a long-term storage product, so farmers should not worry too much about consumption, especially when coffee prices are fluctuating as they are now.
Last November, export activities in Vietnam decreased somewhat. The reason for this was that the harvest came late, farmers were not in a hurry to bring to the market, so the supply was limited, contributing to the high price.
Statistics show that in November, businesses exported 50,605 tons of coffee beans, earning 250.4 million USD with an average unit price of 4,947 USD/ton. Compared to the same period last year, coffee export output decreased by 47.4% in volume and 0.5% in value.
