Supply concerns in the world’s two largest coffee producing countries, Brazil and Vietnam, have pushed coffee prices to record highs. Brazil’s coffee exports hit a record high early in the season, making current availability even more limited.
Meanwhile, freight rates are also one of the reasons for the increase in global coffee prices. Severe port congestion in Brazil has caused logistical difficulties at export ports. Many coffee farmers in Brazil are delaying sales in the expectation of higher prices.
