Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hue - Senior Director of Human Resources & Brand Strategy, AEON Vietnam - assessed that purchasing power for products serving the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2026 increased slightly compared to 2025.
Mid-Autumn cakes in recent years have not only been chosen for gifts but also become products to serve self-delivery needs. Cake products with clear origins, low in sugar, low in fat, no preservatives, no gluten are prioritized for selection. However, in the context of a still volatile economy, the trend of economical consumption is still maintained, making customers consider more carefully in their shopping decisions" - Ms. Hue assessed.
According to Ms. Hue, AEON has implemented a series of programs for the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival when customers can receive discounts of up to 15% when purchasing Mid-Autumn cake products throughout the system.
Representatives of WinCommerce Company said that the system is implementing the "buy 1 get 1 free" program applied to 9 cake flavors. At the same time, at more than 5,300 WinMart, WinMart+ and WiN points nationwide, many weekend activities such as lion dances, Chu Cuoi - Chi Hang exchanges, making lanterns... contribute to bringing the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere closer to families.
Tighten inspection and traceability of goods
Before the peak demand for Trung Thu cakes, Hanoi functional forces promoted inspections of business establishments, focusing on origin, invoices, documents and food safety conditions, thereby promptly detecting and handling smuggled goods, counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights.
Mr. Kieu Dinh Canh - Deputy Head of Hanoi Market Management Sub-Department - informed that from August 10 to September 15, the unit inspected and handled 118 cases, including 73 violations of Mid-Autumn Festival food, 44 violations of children's toy goods, 1 violation of school supplies. Accordingly, administrative violations were fined 902.5 million VND; the value of violating goods: 5.7 billion VND. Violating goods include: 14,937 smuggled Mid-Autumn cakes, of unknown origin, hundreds of assembled children's toy sets, stuffed animals...
Mr. Canh affirmed that the Hanoi Market Management Sub-Department continues to direct the Market Management Teams to proactively grasp the market situation, focus on focused and key inspections of groups of goods serving the Mid-Autumn Festival. Strengthen supervision of warehouses, large gathering points, express delivery centers and online sales accounts showing signs of abnormalities.
The unit closely coordinates with functional agencies in inspecting and tracing the origin of goods and strictly handling violations according to regulations. The peak period of inspecting the Mid-Autumn Festival market in 2026 will continue to be implemented synchronously until the end of September 30, 2026.
Mr. Canh also recommended consumers to choose products with clear origins, full product labels, and necessary information before buying and using.
