On the afternoon of March 13, the Ministry of Public Security held an online conference on housing development for police officers and soldiers, according to the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal.
The report at the conference stated that, regarding the development of social housing for police officers and soldiers, at the time of statistics (March 2025), there were about 45,000 police officers and soldiers nationwide in need of social housing.
In Hanoi alone, there are about 18,500 officers and soldiers and in Ho Chi Minh City, there are about 6,500 officers and soldiers.
Up to now, the Ministry of Public Security has completed the development of laws, decrees, and circulars, including contents related to housing development for the People's Armed Forces; issued a Plan to implement the target of 5,000 social housing units in the People's Public Security and documents guiding the Public Security of units and localities to organize implementation.
Based on the results of the synthesis of housing needs of police officers and soldiers nationwide, the Ministry of Public Security has issued a document requesting the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to synthesize into the local housing development plan.
Regarding the demand for public housing for police officers and soldiers, at the time of statistics (October 2024), there were about 3,000 officers and soldiers in the entire force who needed public housing, not including the needs of the Commune Police. Currently, the Ministry of Public Security has drafted a Plan for the development of public housing in the People's Public Security for the period 2026 - 2030.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister of Public Security Dang Hong Duc suggested: The police of units and localities closely monitor and assign officers to monitor each project that the leaders of the ministry have issued official documents to agree with the People's Committees of localities to ensure that housing construction projects for police officers and soldiers are implemented according to the set schedule and roadmap.
Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc also requested the Directors of the Public Security of localities to focus on directing and reviewing the needs for social housing and public housing not only for police officers and soldiers in their localities but also for police officers and soldiers of other units of the Ministry of Public Security stationed in the area to report to the leaders of the Ministry;
At the same time, proactively coordinate with local departments and branches in arranging and planning land funds, selecting suitable investors to implement the construction of social housing and public housing for officers and soldiers.
In addition, Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc hopes that local Party committees and authorities will continue to pay attention, coordinate, and assist the police force in developing housing for police officers and soldiers in accordance with the plan and targets assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister.
