Infrastructure development, Binh Thuan expects to welcome a new wave of investment

DUY TUẤN |

As the transport infrastructure is gradually opened, Binh Thuan - the gateway connecting the South Central Coast with the key economic region of the South and the Southern Central Highlands - is increasingly attracting large investors in many fields.

Diverse transportation system

Binh Thuan is currently well connected with neighboring provinces and cities through a diverse transportation system. The North-South expressway has passed through the entire Binh Thuan province and has been put into operation, helping to shorten travel time.

The North-South railway line passing through Binh Thuan province is about 180km long. Then in the future, there will be the North - South high-speed railway, the 156km section through Binh Thuan with 2 passenger stations, Phan Thiet station and Phan Ri station.

With the advantage of having a long coastline, Binh Thuan province is also located near international shipping routes, creating favorable conditions for freight transportation and economic exchange.

Currently, Binh Thuan seaport has 4 wharves: Phan Thiet, Phu Quy, Vinh Tan and Son My, of which Phan Thiet, Phu Quy and Vinh Tan ports have been put into operation, while Son My port is being planned and attracting investment. In particular, the Phan Thiet Airport project has completed and exploited military items, while the BOT civil items are in the process of carrying out procedures and are expected to be completed in 2026.

To make Binh Thuan a national marine tourism center, investing in improving intra-provincial transport infrastructure is one of the prerequisites. This helps increase connectivity to tourist areas and facilitate traffic. There are also 3 high-speed trains operating from Phan Thiet city to Phu Quy island district to transport passengers.

Many other road projects are being implemented by Binh Thuan province such as the coastal route through Phan Thiet city with a total length of 14.6km, the project to upgrade National Highway 28B connecting Lam Dong - Binh Thuan, the road connecting from Phan Thiet city center to the expressway of 11.2km with an investment of 7,000 billion VND, Tan Minh road to Son My Industrial Park...

Exploiting economic potential

According to investors, the smooth internal and foreign transportation has basically brought Binh Thuan closer to the key economic region in the South, creating more advantages than before. Rich potential, advantages from sea, forest, land, and geographical location have helped Binh Thuan become an attractive land for investment with extensive development space in many fields. Especially in the past month, many investors have signed investment memorandums of understanding and come to learn about investment opportunities in Binh Thuan.

For large projects, attracting "eagles to form groups" also involves small projects in the complex. For example, in Son My 1 Industrial Park, there are 2 Son My 1 and Son My 2 gas power plants, LNG port warehouses. When completed, Son My I Industrial Park combined with Son My seaport will have a strategic role of international stature and will become a new key economic sector not only of Binh Thuan but also of the Southern Key Economic Zone.

Mr. Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee - said that recently, Binh Thuan province has been visited by many corporations and enterprises with potential to learn about and implement large investment projects. The locality is also focusing on many solutions to attract investment in building a synchronous and modern system of facilities and transport infrastructure to promote the socio-economic development of the province.

The development of transport infrastructure not only helps Binh Thuan exploit the maximum potential of the marine economy but also contributes to promoting the socio-economic development of the province and the region. Binh Thuan province is focusing on strongly developing industrial parks and economic zones, especially heavy industries, energy and seafood processing.

This creates a great demand for goods transportation by road, rail, and sea. Therefore, Binh Thuan will continue to develop transport infrastructure to ensure increasingly smooth and more convenient connections.
