This morning (August 25), in Hanoi, the Border Guard Command (BGB) organized a conference to summarize and honor models, programs, and movements of the BGB participating in building a strong border area in the period 2015 - 2025.
General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense attended and delivered directing speeches at the conference.
In the past 10 years (2015 - 2025), although the border area still suffered many complex impacts of natural disasters, climate change, epidemics, crimes and people's lives in many places were still full of difficulties; however, Border Guard officers and soldiers promoted and successfully completed the task of patrolling, controlling, protecting border lines, landmarks, protecting political security, social order and safety in border, sea and island areas.
At the same time, it is also the core and pioneering force participating in consolidating the grassroots political system, developing socio-economics, and hunger eradication and poverty reduction in border areas.
In which, 24 models, programs, and movements implemented by the Border Guard Command have developed remarkably from individual support activities to a "Comprehensive mass mobilization ecosystem".
Those are the programs "Border Spring warms the hearts of villagers", "Warm houses for the poor in border and island areas", "Breeding cows to help the poor", "Accompanying border women", "Raising children to school - Foster children of border guard stations"... The images of "Green-uniformed teachers", "Love class" or "Border school" have gone into the hearts of the people as noble symbols of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new situation.
Speaking to direct the conference, General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense - stated clearly that the issue of national border security and sovereignty is posing a new urgent requirement.
Therefore, General Phan Van Giang requested the Border Guard and units throughout the army to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the guidelines and directives of the Central Government and the Central Military Commission on managing and protecting national border sovereignty and security.
Promoting the overall strength to build a strong all-people border defense and a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Border Guard force, meeting the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
Continue to innovate thinking and methods of deploying models and movement programs to build strong border areas. It is necessary to strongly shift from the method of "immediate support, charity" to "creating self-reliant livelihoods, associated with the value chain and market". Uncle Ho's soldiers come to the people with a spirit of proactiveness, responsibility, efficiency and must make people trust, love, and cherish them.
General Phan Van Giang emphasized that every inch of border land, milestone, every village, every fishing boat going offshore and sticking to the sea will always be solid supports for the country to firmly step forward in the era of rich and strong development, prosperity, civilization, and happiness.
The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense believe that Border Guard officers and soldiers will continue to unite, be creative, join hands and hearts with Party committees, authorities and ethnic minorities to build a strong border area worthy of being a core, specialized and reliable force in the cause of managing and protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security.
