In Decision No. 1632/QD-TTg dated December 23, 2024, the Prime Minister appointed Mr. Vu Chien Thang - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs - to hold the position of Member of the Social Insurance Management Council (SIB) to replace Mr. Nguyen Duy Thang - former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs - who retired according to the prescribed regime.
In Decision No. 1631/QD-TTg dated December 23, 2024, the Prime Minister reappointed Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh - Vice Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union - to concurrently hold the position of Member of the Social Insurance Management Board. The term of appointment is 5 years.
According to Decree No. 89/2020/ND-CP dated August 4, 2020, the Social Insurance Management Council assists the Government and the Prime Minister in directing and supervising the activities of Vietnam Social Insurance and providing advice on social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance policies.
The Social Insurance Management Board is responsible for directing the development and approval of the development strategy of the Vietnam Social Insurance industry, long-term, 5-year and annual plans on the implementation of social insurance, unemployment insurance and health insurance regimes, and projects on preserving and growing social insurance, unemployment insurance and health insurance funds before submitting them to the Prime Minister for approval.
At the same time, supervise and inspect the General Director of Vietnam Social Security in implementing strategies, plans and projects after approval.
Supervise and inspect the implementation of plans for collection, expenditure, management and use of social insurance, unemployment insurance and health insurance funds. Make recommendations to competent state agencies to amend and supplement the State's regimes and policies on social insurance, unemployment insurance and health insurance to ensure the safety of social insurance, unemployment insurance and health insurance funds.
Approve the annual budget for revenue and expenditure of social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance funds; and the management costs of social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance before Vietnam Social Security submits them to the competent authority for decision.
