This morning (May 7, 2025), in Hai Phong, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong attended the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People's Navy (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2025) and received the Ho Chi Minh Medal.
According to the Ministry of Defense, established on 7.5.1955, the Navy Army is the core force in the cause of protecting sovereignty, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity on the waters and islands of Vietnam and building a national defense posture at sea; have the task of firmly managing and protecting the sea and islands under national sovereignty, ready to fight, independently or combat co -combat, defeat the invasion of the sea; maintain security and order, fight with all violations of sovereignty, sovereignty, jurisdiction and national interests of Vietnam at sea; participate in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue; Protect marine economic activities and other activities on waters and islands in accordance with Vietnamese law and international law.
The Navy organization includes the Command and affiliated units. The Command has Commanders, Political Commissars, Deputy Commanders, Deputy Political Commissars and advisory, political, logistics and technical agencies. In each region, the Navy is organized into a Regional Command and its subordinate units are centers, brigades and units to ensure and serve.
The Navy was built and developed revolutionarily, systematically, elite, and modernly with the composition of the following types: surface ships, Submarines; Navy; Artillery - Rocket; Coast Guard; Navy Special Forces; in addition, there are also units that ensure and serve such as Information, Defense, Electronic Warfare, Engineering, Chemistry, etc.
The above forces have been reinforced and put into the payroll many types of modern weapons and equipment. The army is trained to master weapons and technical equipment, thereby improving its strength, combat readiness and fighting ability, meeting the requirements and tasks of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Through the process of fighting, building and growing, the Navy has been twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State and many other noble titles.
