On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man led a Central working delegation to visit and extend New Year greetings to families of policy beneficiaries, the poor, workers and disadvantaged laborers in Can Tho City.
Also attending were Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Thai Thu Xuong and leaders of central and local agencies.
At the visit, New Year greetings and gift giving, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent his best wishes to the Party Committee, government and people of Can Tho for a new year of health, happiness, success and many new joys and victories so that the city can truly be worthy of being the center of the Mekong Delta region.
After listening to the report of the Can Tho City People's Committee, the National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the results that Can Tho City achieved in 2024 and the preparation of Tet for the people.
In 2024, Can Tho City will have an economic growth rate of more than 7.1%, an average income of 4,200 USD/person, a budget revenue of 12,000 billion VND and exports of 2.8 billion USD. The city will welcome 6.5 million tourists and the poverty rate will decrease to 0.09%. These are impressive results, demonstrating the efforts of the entire political system of the city.
In addition to economic development, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized the importance of digital transformation, science and technology development and improving the quality of education.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested that Can Tho continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 59 and Resolution No. 45, strive more strongly in the targets of GRDP growth, per capita income, budget revenue; promote well the conditions of infrastructure and human resources, especially the intellectual team.
The National Assembly Chairman requested that the leaders of Can Tho City increase their decisiveness and determination to increase the economic growth rate to double digits by 2025.
The National Assembly Chairman also requested to continue to well implement Directive No. 40 of the Secretariat on organizing the Lunar New Year, paying attention to caring for policy families, poor households, and disadvantaged workers; ensuring political security, social order and safety, and maintaining environmental sanitation during the Tet holidays.
During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor directly visited, encouraged and presented Tet gifts to the people.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation presented 500 gifts to policy families, people with revolutionary contributions, poor households, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances in Can Tho City.
The gifts demonstrate the Party and State's concern for people's lives, especially those in difficult circumstances. This is a great source of spiritual encouragement, helping people have a warm and fulfilling Tet At Ty 2025, with more faith and determination to rise up in life.
