According to the Vietnamese National Assembly Electronic Information Portal, it is expected that within the framework of the official visit to Italy, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, will have important high-level contact activities such as: Meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, working with leaders of the Italian House of Representatives and Senate, meeting with the Vietnam - Italy Friendship Parliamentary Group, meeting with leaders of the Re-establishment Communist Party, thereby further strengthening the parliamentary cooperation and political coordination channel.
This is considered an important opportunity for the two sides to review and orient the completion of legal frameworks, creating a solid foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation, and at the same time being ready for the step of upgrading relations in the coming time.
On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairwoman will also meet Pope Leo XIV and Vatican Prime Minister Pietro Parolin. The National Assembly Chairwoman also has some other activities such as meeting with the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Torino Sandra Scagliotti, meeting with typical intellectuals and Vietnamese students in Italy, attending the Vietnam - Italy Business Roundtable, visiting the place bearing President Ho Chi Minh's imprint in Milan, meeting with the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The Vietnam - Italy Strategic Partnership has continued to develop well in recent times, with an increasingly reliable political foundation and broad cooperation space in many fields.
The two countries adopted a Joint Statement on strengthening the Vietnam - Italy Strategic Partnership in July 2023, and are actively exchanging views on the possibility of upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the near future.

On the economic pillar, Italy is currently the 3rd largest trading partner of Vietnam in the EU, after Germany and the Netherlands; conversely, Vietnam is Italy's largest trading partner in ASEAN. In 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached about 7.3 billion USD, an increase of 6.2% compared to 2024, showing positive and stable growth momentum.
Regarding investment, Italy currently ranks 32nd/151 countries and territories with direct investment in Vietnam, with about 155 valid projects, total registered capital of nearly 520 million USD.
The two sides also paid special attention to expanding cooperation in new strategic fields such as aerospace, artificial intelligence (AI), data, nuclear energy, clean energy and high-tech industry.
Over the past time, relations between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Italian Parliament have continued to be maintained stably and develop positively. However, the space for cooperation between the two legislative bodies is still very large, especially in the context that both countries are promoting the completion of institutions for emerging fields.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's official visit to Italy is expected to create new impetus for development in cooperation between specialized committees, friendship parliamentary groups, as well as strengthening legislative experience exchange on digital economy, green transformation, innovation and completing the legal framework for the implementation of EVFTA, EVIPA.
The visit affirmed the determination of the senior leaders of the two countries to strengthen cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Parliament of Italy, and continue to deepen the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership.
