The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on October 22, 2024, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Chairman of the Steering Committee for Vietnam - China Bilateral Cooperation, received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China He Wei.
Welcoming and congratulating Comrade Ha Vi on his coming to Vietnam to take up his term of office at a time when the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries is developing well and achieving many historical achievements, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Party and Government of Vietnam always attach importance to consolidating and developing the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China. This is an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification.
In order to maintain and promote the good development trend of the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries in the coming time, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that Ambassador Ha Vi and the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam urge relevant Chinese agencies to closely coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities to effectively implement high-level agreements and common perceptions, maintain and promote the fine tradition of meetings and exchanges between high-level leaders and all levels of the two Parties and the two countries; promote substantive cooperation areas to achieve more results, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries; promote people-to-people exchanges, consolidate a solid social foundation, create new momentum for the development of Vietnam-China relations; continue to maintain close coordination and cooperation and support each other in multilateral mechanisms and forums; coordinate to well manage land borders and jointly maintain peace and stability at sea.
Propose that both sides strictly implement the high-level common perception, the "Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of Vietnam-China maritime issues"; properly handle the issue of fishing vessels and fishermen; put themselves in each other's position, respect each other's legitimate and legal rights and interests, resolve disputes and disagreements by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS.
Ambassador Ha Vi expressed his honor to assume the responsibility of Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam in the context of the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership entering a new period, building a Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
The Ambassador respectfully conveyed to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son the greetings of Comrade Wang Yi, Politburo member, Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Office Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Chairman of the China-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee.
Agreeing with the opinions of Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Ambassador Ha Vi affirmed that he will strive to promote the implementation of high-level agreements and common perceptions, actively contribute to building the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future with strategic significance, continuously developing in depth and effectively, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries; thanked and expressed his wish to continue receiving the attention, support and favorable conditions of the Government, ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam during his term of office.
