On the afternoon of July 25, thousands of people flocked to the National Funeral Home area (No. 5, Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi) to line up to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Authorities have barricaded the streets leading to the National Funeral Home.
Along the way to the visitation venue, police and youth volunteer checkpoints were arranged to ensure security and order, and at the same time provide drinking water and snacks for people coming to pay their respects.
Ms. Pham Thi Huong Ly (born in 1974, residing in Gia Lam, Hanoi) was present at the gate area of the National Funeral Home from 11am today. She took her daughter, Pham Elizabeth, 6 years old, with her, waiting to visit the General Secretary.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Diep and her son traveled by motorbike from Khoai Chau district (Hung Yen province) at 13:00 today to Hanoi. Ms. Diep said that on the way, she only had one thought: how to be there in time to see the General Secretary off to his final resting place.
According to Ms. Diep, her parents instilled a love of homeland, country, and people in her. Therefore, she always wants to be able to pass this love on to her children.
"We are extremely sorry for you, we really want to be there to see you off, we just hope to come as soon as possible. I always tell my son to learn from the General Secretary's example and to listen to the words of advice. "your teaching" - Ms. Diep said.
Ms. Diep's son is Le Minh Tri, currently in 10th grade. Minh Tri also expressed his emotions and choked up when he was present to see off the General Secretary.
Joining the line of people lining up to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Ms. Do Thi Tho (born in 1959, Cau Giay district) shared that upon receiving notice, the Funeral Organizing Committee will create conditions for people to visit. At 6:00 p.m. on July 25, Ms. Tho quickly put aside her personal work to call a taxi towards the National Funeral Home.
According to Ms. Tho, even though she lives in the central district of Hanoi, today many people in the neighborhood invited each other to go early in the morning, lining up to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
“With our selfless contribution to the development of the country, our people can wait in long lines even if they have to wait any time. I want to come in and light incense to show my gratitude and thanks for what you have contributed to the nation" - Ms. Tho said.
