HCMC - On the afternoon of April 24, Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc presented early retirement decisions to a number of leaders of departments, branches and affiliated units.

6 leaders of departments, branches and units under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee received early retirement decisions, including:

Mr. Nguyen Huynh Long (born in 1964) - former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh My (born in 1968) - Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

Mr. Dinh Van Hoa (born in 1964 - Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Thuat Huy (born in 1968) - Director of the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development.

Mr. Nguyen The Minh (born in 1972) - Head of the Thu Thiem Urban Development Area Management Board.

Mr. Le Phuoc Tai (born in 1968) - Deputy Head of the Thu Thiem Urban Development Area Management Board.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of individuals throughout his work.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that the officials who retire early are all dedicated people, have held many different positions and always strive to fulfill assigned tasks well, making an important contribution to the overall development of the city.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee hopes that after retirement, the cadres will continue to promote their intelligence and experience to continue to contribute to the development of Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.

On behalf of the officials who received the retirement decision before their age, Mr. Nguyen The Minh - Head of the Management Board of Thu Thiem Urban Development Area - expressed his thanks to the Party Committee leaders, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approving the early retirement aspirations of individuals.

Mr. Minh said that early retirement is to facilitate the organization and arrangement of personnel, while opening up opportunities for young cadres to continue to promote their capacity and contribute to the development of the city.

Ho Chi Minh City will merge from 273 commune-level administrative units to 102 units.

After merging with Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Binh Duong, the new Ho Chi Minh City will have 168 wards, communes and special zones.

After reorganizing the organizational apparatus, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to have more than 22,300 redundant cadres, civil servants and non-professional workers. Of which, more than 9,700 non-professional workers will be streamlined in 2025.

The remaining, including about 12,600 cadres and civil servants at the commune and district levels, will be resolved according to the roadmap until 2029, an average of more than 2,500 people per year.
