Further tightening the close relationship between Vietnam and Laos

The visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man contributed to further tightening the close relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Within the framework of his official visit to Laos and attendance at the 45th AIPA General Assembly, on the morning of October 18, in the capital Vientiane, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a meeting with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to pay an official visit to Laos and attend the 45th AIPA General Assembly; emphasizing that the visit is meaningful and contributes to further tightening the close relationship between the two countries, and is a great encouragement for Laos in the year Laos assumes the role of ASEAN Chair and AIPA Chair 2024.

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated Vietnam's support and assistance in helping Laos fulfill its responsibilities as ASEAN Chair 2024 and Chair of AIPA 45, especially the support given to Laos at a time when Vietnam was also severely affected by Typhoon Yagi, demonstrating the close-knit relationship that is unique in the world. The Lao General Secretary and President also sent his warm regards to General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam.

The Lao General Secretary and President highly appreciated the two sides' active coordination in implementing the results of the recent meeting between the two Politburoes, in which the Vietnamese side established a working group to implement cooperation agreements, and the Lao side also organized a conference and assigned specific tasks to Lao ministries and branches.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully conveyed the regards and best wishes of health from General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; congratulated Laos on successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair 2024 and believed that Laos will continue to successfully assume the role of Chair of AIPA 45.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy at the great, comprehensive and historic achievements that Laos has achieved after nearly 40 years of renovation and after more than 3 years of implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Congress; he believed that under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party headed by Comrade Thonglun Sisoulith, the administration of the Government, the accompaniment and supervision of the National Assembly, the brotherly country of Laos will prepare well for the upcoming 12th National Party Congress and build the Lao Socio-Economic Development Plan for the new period (2026 - 2030), continuing to build a prosperous Laos with an increasingly high position in the international arena.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the good and solid development of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in recent years, including the very important contributions of the two countries' National Assemblies; emphasized that in the coming time, the two sides need to promote the tradition of solidarity, trust, and actively implement high-level agreements, including the results of the meeting between the two Politburoes in September 2024; continue to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative bodies of the two countries, especially the exchange of delegations at all levels, sharing experiences in amending the Constitution, supreme supervision and deciding on important issues of the country; closely cooperate and support each other in parliamentary and international forums such as IPU, AIPA, APPF...; closely coordinate at regional and international forums.
