Deputy Head of the Central External Relations Commission Nguyen Minh Tam said that the visit to Vietnam by Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith was the second visit since the beginning of the 11th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (January 2021) and immediately after the State visit of Comrade To Lam as President (July 2024). It is a vivid demonstration of the good feelings and deep relationship of great friendship, special solidarity, closeness, loyalty and purity between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and Laos.
The visit took place in the context that the two Parties and two countries are vigorously implementing the Resolutions of each Party and actively preparing for Party Congresses at all levels, towards the National Congress of each Party. The Vietnam - Laos relationship is developing very well and has achieved many important achievements. The visit is one of the important milestones in the history of the relationship between the two countries, contributing to promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos to new heights, increasingly going into depth, effectiveness and practicality, bringing prosperity to the people of each country.
Speaking to the press ahead of the visit, Party Central Committee Secretary and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung said that this is a particularly important foreign activity for the two Parties and two countries. The visit to Vietnam by Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife was carried out very soon after Comrade To Lam was elected General Secretary by the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Party and State also completed a number of other leadership positions. The visit is an opportunity for leaders of the two Parties and two countries to discuss world and regional issues of mutual concern; evaluate the results of bilateral cooperation in recent times and propose directions to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in the coming time.
Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung emphasized that this is a State-level visit, organized with many exceptions in terms of protocol. Within the framework of the visit, there will be talks and meetings between high-ranking Vietnamese leaders and Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith. On this occasion, a high-level meeting will also take place between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
A great success of the Vietnam-Laos relationship in recent times is that the close and trustworthy political relationship continues to be strengthened, playing an overall guiding role in the bilateral relationship, demonstrated through high-level visits and contacts in many flexible forms. Defense and security cooperation continues to develop as an important pillar in the bilateral relationship.
Economic cooperation between the two countries has achieved many positive results, but is not yet commensurate with the potential of the special solidarity relationship between the two countries.
