Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam expressed his sincere thanks and New Year wishes to the delegates.
The General Secretary affirmed that despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the entire Party, people, and army have strived to overcome them and achieved many important achievements.
In 2024, the country successfully completed its socio-economic development goals, while achieving important steps in Party building and political system building.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the achievements could not have been achieved without the great contributions of former leaders, intellectuals, scientists, and artists. These are people who have devoted their intelligence, experience, and enthusiasm, contributing to policy planning, providing directions, and breakthrough solutions in all fields.
General Secretary To Lam said that 2025 is a very important year for the country. The Party Central Committee has reached a high consensus on determining the basic awareness of the new era, the era of national development, under the leadership and governance of the Communist Party of Vietnam, to successfully build a socialist Vietnam, a rich people, a strong country, democracy, equity, and civilization.
The top priority in the coming period is to successfully implement the strategic goals by 2030, Vietnam will become a developing country with modern industry and high average income; by 2045 it will become a developed country with high income.
Therefore, under the leadership of the Party, the entire people unite, join hands, make the most of opportunities and advantages, push back risks and challenges, and bring the country to comprehensive and strong development, breakthroughs and take off.
To successfully implement the Party's major policies, the General Secretary said, first of all, the Party Central Committee has reached a consensus, the political system has been thoroughly grasped, determined to implement, and has received high consensus and support from the people.
Next, considering science and technology as a breakthrough, on December 22, 2024, the Politburo passed Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. This is considered a top important breakthrough, the main driving force to rapidly develop modern productive forces, perfect production relations, innovate national governance methods, develop the socio-economy, prevent the risk of falling behind, and bring the country to breakthrough development and prosperity in the new era.
The General Secretary hopes that intellectuals and scientists will strive to fulfill their responsibilities and missions in the new revolutionary period, contributing together with the entire Party, people and army to successfully achieve the country's strategic goals.
“The Party, State and people have great trust and expectations in the team of intellectuals and scientists - the core pioneers creating strong innovations and breakthroughs, aiming for the goal of rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new period” - the General Secretary emphasized.
The General Secretary also hopes that in the coming time, artists will contribute and dedicate more, by creating works of great contemporary significance, of great ideological and artistic value, honoring the values of truth, goodness and beauty, serving the people, serving the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
The General Secretary said that the Party will have a resolution on the development of culture and arts and study and promulgate a National Strategy on building literature and arts in the new era. The National Assembly, the Government, and relevant agencies will coordinate to remove bottlenecks in laws, mechanisms, policies, budgets, finance, investment, etc. to create resources and space for artists to freely create and compose, while fighting against deviant, degraded, and uncultured ideologies.
