On July 26, Korean site Sway reported that male Kpop idol Mingyu (member of group Seventeen) was chosen as the Global Ambassador for the French luxury brand Dior .
Mingyu officially joined the Dior ambassador team along with more than 10 other Korean stars such as Jisoo (Blackpink), Jimin (BTS), Haerin (NewJeans), Kim Yuna, Sehun (EXO), Han So Hee, Kim Min Ha , Jung Hae In, Lomon, boy band TXT.
Notably, Korea has only 3 faces known as Dior Global Ambassadors. Jisoo is a global ambassador for both fashion and beauty. Jimin is a global ambassador for men's fashion. Haerin is the global ambassador for Dior jewelry.
According to Sway, Mingyu was chosen to replace the Dior ambassador position of Cha Eun Woo - the actor who was recently reported by Korean media to have become the Saint Laurent ambassador.
In February, Mingyu caused a storm when he first attended Dior's show at Paris Fashion Week. A series of photos of the male singer holding a bouquet of white flowers in a blue suit to the show spread widely on social networks.
With the contract with Dior, Mingyu will be the third member of the Seventeen group to become the ambassador of an international high-end fashion brand (Vernon is the Kenzo ambassador, Hoshi is the Diesel ambassador).
In addition, according to Korean media, Mingyu was chosen as the Bulgari jewelry and watch brand ambassador in March.
However, until early afternoon of July 26, Dior's website and social networking platforms had not confirmed that Mingyu was the new global ambassador.
